Main Street Bowling Green is proud to announce a new 2008 calendar to hit store shelves this holiday season.
The 12-month collectible calendar features historic photos of downtown
Bowling Green, courtesy of the Sentinel-Tribune, Center for Archival
Collections at BGSU, and the Wood County Historical Society. From
natural
disasters like the Blizzard of 1978 and the tornado that took out a
corner
of the Millikin Hotel, to joyful memories of sledding down the Conneaut
Hill
or taking the interurban train - this calendar gives you a glimpse of
our
town as it has grown through the last hundred years.
In addition to historic photos, the calendar contains local dates of
interest such as school openings, big trash pick-ups, city council
meetings,
and special events in the parks, museums, and downtown businesses.
The calendar sells for $10 and all proceeds help support further
endeavors
by the Main Street Bowling Green organization. "Main Street" is a
non-profit
organization, which strives to improve and expand the Central Business
District as a viable business, cultural and recreational locale for the
City
of Bowling Green.
Calendars will be sold at the BG Convention & Visitors Bureau, Calico,
Sage, & Thyme, The Flower Basket, For Keeps, Grounds For Thought, Mills
Jewelry,
the Wood County Historical Museum, and the Main Street Bowling Green
office.
This very-attractive calendar is printed on glossy stock with a color
cover
and spiral bound by Rapid Print in Bowling Green.
Plans are already underway to release a second-annual collectible
calendar
for 2009.
