Workshop is Tuesday, October 9, 2012
Bring your ideas
and props to the Park Distric's scarecrow building
workshop; they will provide the stuffing. When it’s done you can either take it
home or enter it in the SCARECROW CONTEST.
Scarecrows will be on display at the Wood County Historical Center and judged at the Folklore & Funfest. Participation in the workshop not necessary to enter the contest.

Frightfully Free Family Fun
at the Old County Infirmary at the Halloween Folklore & Funfest!
Thisfamily-orientated event is full of fun! Horse-drawn wagon rides,
kids' games and activities in Boo-ville,and guided folklore tours of the Museum. Try your hand at pressing apple cider or listen to haunted
storytelling. Costumes are welcome, but not necessary, and there
will plenty of treats (and maybe a few tricks too) for all visitors.
Parking and admission is free.
The Historical Center is located at 13660 County Home Road –
just 1/2 mile east of I-75, exit 179, east on Rt. 6, right on
County Home Road.

There
is a lot to do and see at the Funfest:
all events subject to change
- Boo-ville (for the little ghost in everyone): Witch's Cauldron, Spider Toss, Witch Golf, Eyeball Toss, Sack Races, Bowling, Pumpkin Patch Hunt, Pumpkin Roll, Tattoos.
- Horse-drawn Wagon Rides: Take a leisurely trip around the grounds as the Museum guide shares a few folklore tales.
- Cider Press: Make some freshly pressed apple cider. Try pairing it with a homemade donut made from the Infirmary Recipe Cook Book.
- Disco Dungeon: Dance the Monster Mash and enjoy some freshly popped pop corn. Learn a little about Halloween's mascot, the bat, from a Park District naturalist.
- Monster Theatre (inside Museum): How will Scooby-Doo and those meddling kids get out of this spooky scenerio? Enjoy pop corn while you watch.
- Warming Fire and Boo Bingo (west lawn)
- Folklore Tours (inside Museum): Take a guided folklore tour of the old County Infirmary.
- Coffin Cafe: Tame the tummy growl with hamburgs, hot dogs, and drinks. Also try a homemade donut from the Infirmary Cook Book.

Friday, October 19 & Friday, October 26, 2012:
90-minute guided folklore tour includes the Infirmary (now the Wood County Museum) and outdoor Story Stops at the Log Cabin (Civil War medicine), the Pestilence House, the Lunatic Asylum and the Pauper’s Cemetery. Tours start at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM and reservations are required.

Start a spooky tour at the historic Cla-Zel Theatre in downtown Bowling Green with guest speaker Jim Willis, author of Weird Ohio and founder of Ghosts of Ohio. Bus tour to Wood County Historical Museum where we will share folklore tales. Next stop is the Oak Grove Cemetery on the campus of BGSU. Haunted house tours in the Boomtown District. Return to the Cla-Zel for a spooky movie and other Halloween treats (and tricks). Cash bar.
