Richly
Dressed, Handsome in Appearance
Wednesday, February 28, 2007. 7:00 pm.
Guests will see for themselves the beautiful and different styles
of dress of the Native Americans of the Maumee Valley during the
1790s. Enjoy the visuals of the richly dressed men and the plain
styles of women and children. A historical interpreter engages guests
with vast amounts of sources that document why Natives Americans
dressed the way they did, how they made their clothing, and what
different accessories they used. Experience how style affected native
lives through trade and interaction with Europeans and Americans.
Program lead by Janet
Rozick, Historic Programs Specialist for the Toledo Metroparks in
the "Indians of Northwest Ohio" exhibit that houses the
John and Diane Baer collection. **(Lecture is on the second floor
of the Museum and is not handicap accessible).
